Magnetic clamps are definitely our favorite tool!
Not only because of how they are made, but also just because they are fun to work and play with :)
Also, it's always a pleasure to return to this review of the clamps made by @DASBookbinding :)
By the way, if you were waiting, the smallest (and the cheapest) size of the clamps is in stick once again! But we still recommend the size "18 mm/small" as we think it's the most versatile and best from the "value for money" point of view!

Wow, what a wonderful video! Daniel Helm is incredibly cool - sure hope I can take one of his workshops!
Is it good or bad? =)
@@iBookBinding 911..... = 9/11 or the number 911..
Oh, well. Every video that gets more than 910 views passes through that number.
This is actually brilliant.
Thanks!
❤Beautiful shop! A printer’s Heaven!
🙌
Very skilled work.
🙌
Ma bro, ma mann just add some gloves and u have high quality asmr
You don't need gloves to work with books (with some rare exceptions). Even more, gloves increase the chance to damage brittle paper. Clean washed hands do the trick.
Nope! Tell me 😊
Very useful if you need to hold a square together with no force being applied vertically
🙌
Wow that looks amazing.
Thankyou for the video. Very interesting and this sounds like an exciting competition. I look forward to seeing it's completion and the winners next year. The Team Pigment initiative at Durham is something I am very interested in which I didn't know about so I'll find out more about that. :)
Thanks for watching, Han!
Good job
Coffin.
Well, that's definitely an option :)
@@iBookBinding I'm "dead serious" Halloween lover here. Make it and I will buy it.
@robertbriscoe4355 the box or the clamps to make a coffin-shaped box? I can definitely do the latter!

@@robertbriscoe4355 ok, I'll have to research which angles there should be there

Well, yes. It's not a secret 🤣

I was wondering if they released the language online, so we can get translation!

Well, yes.
That looks amazing! I didn't get the name of the French papermill. Could anyone spell it out?
Ruscombe paper mill
Wow, that's paradise. I was once there, but I was in a hurry and wasn't able to see most of the shop. One day I'll come back and I'll spend hours enjoying the place.
We were quite surprised to see how large it is!
super gráfica 😊
Divin!
Holly sh😳😳😳😳. It is huge!
Haha, yes. I worked with books of similar sizes I couple of times as well :)
It's a maze I'd love to get lost in.
🙌
That's truly amazing
Thanks! 😊
Thank you all for such fascinating interview and I love that Jorge has brought back medieval printing. Delighted.
Thanks, Victoria!
It's magic, so professional.
What filament and nicenprints
Thanks! I use PLA for most of my prints. Some of the magnetic items need to withstand a bit more heat, and then I use PETG. I also want to expriment with PC
👏 Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I used to follow a Binder/Nurse on the subreddit that used a laser for all their bookboard and fabric cutting. This is equally clever usage!
It is!

Nice!

Yeah, quite impressive

Beautiful! This IS already art
:)
I always thuoght you can just slice a thing bit of wood and sock it for a day and dry next😅
Fascinating and complicated discussion trying to understand the complexities of it all. Thankyou. :)
And there's even more to discuss!...
1:08:15 About this time in the video, the 0 (zero) character is interesting because it is slanted. Also, there are 2 B's, 2 D's, 2 H's and 2 E's that are very different from each other. That's a bit peculiar?
First things first: I made a small mistake. The Koch Rivoli font isn't a free font. At least not the version present in this specimen picture. According to the creator - Harold’s Fonts I believe - the numbers are his own design, based on the design by Koch but extended with the thinner lines. And yes there are multiple designs for some letters. Looking at the every single one we can distinguish between the designs from the "Zierbuchstaben" (decorative letters) by Koch and the uppercase letters from the Rivoli typeface by ATF. Most of the letters follow Koch’s original design. Noteworthy are - in my opinion - the rounded E, and the H, which looks a bit more like an lowercase h, with the arch in the middle. The angular E and H seem to originate with the Rivoli typeface. If you look at the specimen of the Rivoli typeface, that I showed, you can see the potential for even more alternative designs. Combining both typefaces could potentially lead to a font that has two designs for every uppercase letter. In the font itself the alternative designs are placed on the upper and lower case. So they can be used by pressing the shift button. The B and D designs might be additions by the creator Harold’s Fonts.
@@friedrichmariasommerfeldt9361 Ah, that makes sense. Thankyou for that concise reply. :)
Thankyou for that stimulating live session. Kate's book was amazing and seeing the fascinating background work and trials that it went to was very interesting. Seeing such a large and varied range of bindings was a real eye opener and I had my boundaries about 'what is a book' pushed, prodded and expanded.
Thanks for watching!
About 1:10:00 he has a very interesting brooch (or badge) on the lapel of his jacket. Would love to know more about that. I'll have to contact him somehow.
I think you can do that on Facebook or Instagram
